Insurance industry journalism and glitzy awards dos go together like peanut butter and jelly.
But with the sheer number of after-work events PR people are expected to attend throughout the year, it would not have been unexpected if there had been exasperated sighs when an all-new awards bash was unveiled last week. Maybe it had something to do with the complimentary beer and wine – and the fact that very few attendees looked like they had managed to stick to their dry January regime – but news of Post and Insurance Age’s Insurance Marketing and PR Awards received a generous response when content director Jonathan Swift revealed the details of the 26 June bash at a packed City bar. Penny is mulling over the idea of opening a book on potential winners, as her Post colleague discuss their favourites as frontrunners.
