Penny Black's insurance week - 24 March

There was much talk about the imminent arrival of driverless cars at Post's Motor Claims 2015 event, but those dedicated visitors who stayed until the penultimate session of the day - such as Penny, a keen motorist who is often found pootling around town in her modest Rolls Royce - were given two morsels of gossip.

Firstly, in what was his final insurance event as an MP Jonathan Evans revealed that he once went on a speed awareness course, and was aghast to be on it with several white van drivers who did not know the speed limit for the vehicles.

Penny must confess to being ignorant to what this limit is, but then she doesn't drive a van for a living so can be excused.

Then Biba's executive director Graeme Trudgill joked that his wife is so bad at parking that she needs sensors on the side of the car. Members of the panel were quick to point out the many, many statistics that prove that women are far safer drivers then men, but given that the rest of the room were avidly tweeting throughout the event, Penny only hopes that Mrs Trudgill did not pick up on any mentions of her husband's revelation.
