With the number of electric vehicles on the UK roads well in excess of one million they are becoming an ever more important factor for motor insurers when planning how to grow, service their portfolio and manage claims costs.

However, it has been suggested that one potential big barrier to evolution here has been the lack of a specific EV category in the Association of British Insurers’ General Terms of Agreement (GTA) that specifies the maximum daily rates for groups of vehicles provided by credit hire organisations (CHOs).

With this in mind Insurance Post in association with Europcar is hosting a webinar on Wednesday 2nd October at 11:00am to discuss what difference a re-categorisation might have in how insurers handle EV claims; not least whether greater clarity might give insurers the incentive to capture an innocent third party into their supply chain rather than lose that individual to a CHO.
