Penny Black’s Social Diary: Zurich’s axes; MGAA’s curry

Social Diary

Penny Black shares the tittle-tattle she overheard at insurance industry events, reviewing the quality of buffets at conferences, and giving a thumbs up – or down – to the sector’s social media posts.

Virtual well-wishers

The Insurance Charity marketing and communications manager Victoria Sutton’s LinkedIn announcement of its rebrand sparked quite the digital gathering of industry well-wishers.

The post, detailing “many months of collective hard work”, drew enthusiastic responses from across the sector, with familiar names from Aviva, RSA, and Axa all chiming in with congratulations.

Though I must say, watching the insurance world finding creative ways to offer their well wishes provided almost as much entertainment as the actual reveal of the new website.

A definite thumbs-up for this wholesome celebration of positive change and an honourable mention for those delicious looking cupcakes.

Penny’s Lunch Box

MGAA Broker Exchange Penny Black

The MGAA’s Broker Exchange surprised me this week with the adventurous choice of Malaysian curry as one of the lunch options.

On the other plate, we were offered the far more basic gnocchi option. While it was also delicious, I was hoping my tastebuds would get to travel to some other uncharted territory.

Four stars, as I must deduct a point for the lack of commitment to a global cuisine theme.

Out of context

“He said go harder!”

Sian Broad, public relations manager at Zurich, justifies her axe’s thunderous crash during an axe-throwing event with the Insurance Post team.
