Munich Re, Allianz and Zurich discussed the management of unstructured data in claims during Post webinar

Big Data concept - mobile flying down a data tunnel

Insurance companies are dealing with increasing volumes of digital media associated with claims initiation and claims investigation processes.

This includes a dramatic rise in unstructured content such as video and images.

Insurance Post, in association with Alfresco, hosted a live interactive webinar in which an expert panel discussed the impact this trend has had on the claims process, cycle times, productivity and revenues.

Topics covered were:

  • How ready are insurers to meet the growing demand among customers to send photos or videos of claims at first notification of loss?
  • How can insurers better manage the increasing quantity and variety of digital content attached to a claim?
  • What can insurers do to streamline and automate the ingestion of digital content & media files?
  • How can insurers reduce the manual effort required to analyse content and automate analysis?
  • How can insurers improve the flow of digital content between themselves, policyholders and third parties handling claims on their behalf - to prevent repetition and improve communication?

Joining the panel to answer these questions and provide recommendations on how insurance companies can address this challenge and provide a better customer experience for policyholders were:

  • Arkadiusz Baran, lead consultant, Sollers Consulting.
  • Calum McPhail, head of liability claims (motor and casualty), Zurich.
  • John Pyall, MGA Cockpit, Great Lakes London.
  • Jeremy Trott, head of claims operations, Allianz.
